Sue Sudbury
Sue’s first feature documentary Indian Space Dreams was longlisted for the 2021 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature and won the 2020 Royal Television Society Award for Best Single Documentary. Indian Space Dreams won six other international awards and has sold to 98 countries, through TVF International. Sue combines filmmaking with her position as Associate Professor of Media Practice in the Faculty of Media and Communication at Bournemouth University where she is Co-Director of the Research Centre for the Study of Conflict, Emotion and Social Justice, leads the faculty’s REF submission of practice research outputs and supervises practice-led doctorates. Before entering academia, Sue produced and directed series for Channel 4 and ITV, and singles for the BBC and Al-Jazeera. Moving Out (C4) won the RTS Award, A Home for Clare (C4) won the New York International Film and Television Finalist Award, The Tale of Bugs Bottom (C4) won the Prix de Basle and Village Tales (Al-Jazeera) won four awards. Sue is now leaving Bournemouth University so she can return to directing full-time.
